The Hinds Lady Bulldogs basketball program has had some difficulties over the past decade. There have been years where the group has struggled to win a single game. Last year, Coach Tomekia Reed took over the program and has brought a winning attitude to the Utica Campus team.

Coach Reed has used really good recruiting along with holding all of the players accountable on and off of the court to change the culture of the program.

A year ago, the Lady Bulldogs won 10 games. Before she arrived, Hinds had only won 13 total games in the previous five years combined. This season, the squad is off to a 7-0 start and has been dominating opponents. The group is very fun to watch, and the chemistry that they have on the court definitely shows how close they are off the court.

I was fortunate enough last year, while working at Mississippi State, to witness a record breaking team make it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen and see the community rally behind that team. I cannot wait to see how this season will turn out for the Hinds Lady Bulldogs. This team definitely has all of the ingredients to make a run deep into the postseason.Coach Reed-1.jpg
