Summary: This course is designed to provide the student with the ability to meet or exceed entry level requirements for most manufacturers. After completing the course, the student may enter into an Integrated Pathway to more advanced Career Technical programs with advanced certificates or degrees.

Pre-requisite: Entry into the program requires a Silver Certificate (Level 4) or higher on three sections of the National Career Readiness Certificate test (Reading for Information, Locating Information and Applied Math).

Attendance: Students must notify the instructor of any absence before the start of class. Students are to meet 90 percent of the time to earn the certificate.

Course Requirement: A minimum of 80 percent is required on all sections tested in order to receive a Manufacturing Skills Basic Certificate.

Training Includes: The 96-hour course provides an overview of five major areas.

  • Basic Computer Literacy
  • Safety and CPR
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Precision Measurement
  • Introduction to Manufacturing Improvement Methods:
    • Quality Tools and Principles
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Quick Changeover
    • 5S
    • Teamwork
    • Problem Solving
Completion: Students will have earned credentials in OSHA 10, CPR and receive the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification.
