In Hinds CC Eagles, softball

March 7, 2016

In a recent blog post titled,

Hinds CC is building its own field of dreams

I described the process from breaking ground to near completion of the new softball field in Raymond. Now, let me add some finished-product photos to reveal the beautifull field that is now the new home of the Hinds Community College Lady Eagles softball team.

This post is a follow-up to update the final stages of Phase I of the softball field.

The Rene’ T. Warren Softball Field has been relocated to the Main Street and Hinds Boulevard junction, adjacent to the Joe G. Moss Baseball Field.

The Lady Eagles softball team took to the field this season for the first time on synthetic turf. Also completed in Phase I are batting cages, pitching bullpens and lighted dugouts with heated restrooms and storage areas.

Phases II and III will include:

• Exterior Field Lighting

• Softball and baseball coaches offices, team meeting room, laundry facilities and dressing rooms

• All-weather practice enclosure

• Grandstand with seating, press box, concessions and public restrooms

The completed project will include sidewalks and landscaping to connect the baseball and softball facilities, in an attractive, pedestrian-safe setting.

Hopefully, supported by the generous donations of fans, friends and alumni, the next phases will soon be realized.

The link below (Facebook gallery) will take you to a few photos of the ribbon cutting and grand opening that was held on March 1, 2016. The crowd enjoyed the traditional popcorn, peanuts, hot dogs, Cokes and cracker jacks, or in this case kettle corn.

Also included below, are a few photos of the finished facility.
