On April 22, the Hinds Community College Utica Campus Choir performed at Pratt Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson. The concert featuring the Jubilee Singers and the Daughters of Dr. Bobby Cooper was Dr. Cooper’s final performance as conductor of the internationally famous group.
Alcorn State University. Mississippi State University. Jackson State University. Southern Miss. Mississippi College. Mississippi Valley State University. Ole Miss. Prairie View A and M. These are just some of the places that our upcoming Hinds graduates will continue their education in the fall.
Inspiration comes from everywhere. In an effort to create creativity among the students on the Raymond campus of Hinds Community College, creative writers from Rick Melancon’s ENG 2133 Creative Writing I and II collaborated with musicians from Amy Jones’ MUS 1123 Music Survey class. The hope was to not only showcase the talent of our student population but also to inspire their work as they continue their academic careers.

The Lendon Players are set to perform one of their most anticipated productions ever, “The Outsiders” on Tuesday, April 24 through Friday, April 27. Originally a novel by S.E. Hinton, it was adapted into a movie in 1983. In 1990 it was adapted into a stage play by Christopher Sergel.
This time of year, I hit the road to cover recruiting events at our Hinds CC campuses. It's a highlight of my spring semester schedule to get to meet so many excited high school junior and seniors, as well as adult prospective students. With less than a month before final exams begin here at Hinds CC, I thought I would blog about the end-of-the- semester blues. Any student out there knows exactly what I am talking about. The semester is coming to an end soon, and the motivation is just not there like it was at the beginning of the semester.
