The Utica Campus of Hinds Community College will host its inaugural Vice President’s Scholarship and Hall of Honors Gala on Friday, March 25, at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson, Miss. The event will serve as a fundraiser to assist students with financial need in attending college. All money raised will go to a scholarship fund designated solely for deserving Utica Campus students.

The Powerball mania a few weeks ago spurred a spate of social media posts along the lines of what would you do if you won several million dollars in the lottery. It’s a nice fantasy but the chances of winning are pretty slim, although someone has to win. It might as well be me, right? But first I would have had to buy a ticket, and a trip to Louisiana just wasn’t in my plans.
