The Utica Campus of Hinds Community College will host its inaugural Vice President’s Scholarship and Hall of Honors Gala on Friday, March 25, at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson, Miss. The event will serve as a fundraiser to assist students with financial need in attending college. All money raised will go to a scholarship fund designated solely for deserving Utica Campus students.

Honorees include individuals from the professional areas of Humanities, Business, Law, Education, Politics, Religion and Sports. Among these honorees is William Holtzclaw, the founder of the Utica Campus.

“As the first female leader and alumna of the Utica Campus, it is an honor and a privilege to follow in the footsteps of such outstanding educators as our founder, William Holtzclaw. Just as leaders before me, I understand the great responsibility of upholding his legacy with pride and dignity,” said Dr. Debra Mays-Jackson, Utica Campus vice president.

There will be a silent auction held that night to raise additional scholarship dollars. Auction items have been donated by local business owners, alumni supporters and several departments on the Utica Campus.
