A few weeks ago I wrote about my new goal of losing weight before my daughter’s October wedding.
Since the day I wrote that blog post, I lost 13 lbs. by watching what I eat, drinking lots of water and working out at the Hinds Wellness Complex.
But then everything stalled. I haven’t gained weight – but the weight loss stopped.
So, in desperation I signed up for a Monday-Wednesday-Friday Wellness Complex boot camp. I started on June 7, missed on June 9 but made it all three days this week.
Folks, I’m here to tell you. Today’s (June 16) version just about killed me.
But, our trainer, Randall Pharr, is very patient and tailors the activities to what I can do. For instance, pull-ups are beyond my reach right now – literally. So he has me working a giant rubber band for the time being.
I’m with a great bunch of mostly Hinds employees who encourage me and, most importantly, don’t laugh at me.
Thanks to them, I’m hanging in there. And hey, today I discovered that I can still jump rope, a skill I learned in elementary school. But 100 reps takes me a few pauses.
If you’re in the neighborhood, I encourage you to come visit the Raymond Campus Wellness Complex.
Special thanks to Tammi Bowles for dropping by and taking the photos.
Our trainer, Randall Pharr, is working me up toward being able to lift the barbells. I'm NOT there yet.
Randall is giving us our instructions on Wednesday, June 14. From left, Jim Young, Vanda Brumfield, Bethani England, Katie Carpenter, Beth Guider, me and Randall. You see I'm not quite smiling in this photo.
