Hinds Community College has been fortunate to have the support of some fine folks over the years. Over the last few weeks, two stellar men who were former members of the college’s Board of Trustees have passed away while another is leaving the public life.

It was a lot of fun but it is OVER!
That goes not just for what Jackie Granberry calls the “C” word – Centennial – but also the Nov. 4 Centennial Gala.
Hinds Community College spent 2017 celebrating “100 Years of Community Inspired Service,” wrapping it up with a Gala attended by more than 450 people. The proceeds all go toward a Centennial Endowment that will be used for student scholarships, faculty development and other future needs of the college.

What happened to June, July and August? The summer months flew by for a number of us at Hinds Community College as we worked on materials for the continuation this fall of our Centennial celebration.

March 2017 has been a banner month for my family. One granddaughter turned three. I finished a master’s degree and will graduate in May. My younger daughter just got accepted into nurse practitioner school at the University of Southern Mississippi. But the biggest news may be that the same daughter is getting married sometime this fall.
For me, that’s plenty of incentive to try to shed some of the weight I have put on in the last 10 years – coincidentally the same time I came to work at Hinds Community College.

January was a good month to celebrate milestones for both me and Hinds Community College. Both Hinds and I are celebrating anniversaries. I’ve been at Hinds 10 years, as of Jan. 8. But the college is celebrating something much bigger and more important all throughout 2017 – our Centennial!
