With Valentine's Day being this week, I was thinking about those who found love here at Hinds Community College. Some were students when they met, some met through co-workers, but regardless, their love began right here at Hinds CC. And for some, it has lasted a lifetime!

National Signing Day is always a whirl wind. Coaches spend months collecting data and going off campus to high schools across the region to seek out prospective players. The most difficult part about it is that nothing is official until signing day. Coaches spend hours on the phone with players and can only speculate what players are going to do until the letter of intent is signed.

Being able to experience different climates and landscapes than those of Mississippi, where I have lived all of my life, was one of the reasons I chose to go to Costa Rica with Hinds Community College’s study abroad program. Also, I had always wanted to experience spending time in a culture that does not speak English. I have to admit that I really had little interest in the wildlife of Costa Rica; however, after seeing sloths, monkeys, toucans and crocodiles in the wild, I’m ready to go back. The trip to Costa Rica is one of the greatest experiences I have had in my life so far.
